Your area of responsibility:
- Provide technical leadership and direct supervision of a team of skilled embedded software engineers.
- Lead the planning for the embedded software team, including resource allocation, capacity forecasting, and goal setting across multiple projects and locations.
- Take full ownership of project outcomes, including delivery timelines, quality targets, and technical debt management.
- Manage personnel responsibilities: conduct performance reviews, support career development, and ensure consistent coaching and feedback across team members.
- Exercise disciplinary authority over team members, including conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, and adherence to company policies and values.
- Collaborate across all embeX sites to align technical approaches, share knowledge, and ensure consistent standards in software engineering practices.
- Prepare and deliver technical and organizational reports at varying levels of detail for different audiences (engineering teams, management, clients).
- Contribute to the evaluation and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to software quality, defect density, and team engagement.
- Maintain consistent communication and reporting to the general management of embeX GmbH in Freiburg.

Your profile:
- Degree in Embedded Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of experience in embedded software development on microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, ARM Cortex-M), with strong proficiency in C/C++.
- Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams or serving as principal engineer in complex projects.
- Proven ability to translate business and system requirements into robust, scalable software design architectures.
- Experience with version control (Git, SVN), build systems (CMake, Make), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Experience with testing platforms such as gtest.
- Solid understanding of microcontroller architecture, software’s memory footprint, real-time systems, and hardware-software co-design.
- Experience with UML, formal specification and test methods, and model-based development where applicable.
- Experience with communicating technical information at appropriate levels of detail for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, and Product Management.
- Excellent French and English language skills (written and spoken); German language proficiency is an advantage.
